BIPPA Mission Statement
For over 30 years, the Barrier Islands Preservation and Protection Association (BIPPA) has been committed to preserving the delicate balance between population growth and the natural habitat of the barrier islands in Brevard County. Our focus is particularly on the unincorporated South Beaches area, which lacks local government and is governed by the County. This area is home to a diverse range of wildlife, including Loggerhead Sea Turtles, West Indian Manatees, Atlantic Bottlenose Dolphins, Gopher Tortoises, and more.
As the largest nesting site for Loggerhead Sea Turtles in the world, the South Beaches area is crucial to the survival of this endangered species. However, the growth of coastal development, particularly high-density dwellings on the beaches, poses a threat to their nesting habitats.
BIPPA's mission is to provide the government, individuals and organizations with the knowledge, tools, and resources needed to maintain and protect this fragile ecosystem. Through education, advocacy, and collaboration, we aim to ensure the long-term sustainability of the barrier islands' natural resources and wildlife, while supporting responsible development and economic growth in the region.
Through our efforts, we strive to create a better future for the barrier island and the communities that call it home.
