Project Date: 2015
Dear Neighboring Homeowner,We at *BIPPA have become aware that Fire Station #65 at Aquarina can only provide 3 MINUTES of Water to extinguish a fire, leaving as much as a 12 minute GAP of NO Water until engines from #64 at Spessard arrive. Goodbye house by then!
To effectively support proper water supply you may call &/or e-mail County Commissioners: (952-6300) [email protected], (633-2044) [email protected](454-6601) [email protected], (264-6750) [email protected], (233-6611) [email protected], and County Manager (633-2001) [email protected] and (633-2056) Fire Chief [email protected]
Regardless, please (print and) circulate the petition below for as many adult names and addresses from Melbourne Shores, south to the Inlet Bridge, and put the completed form in my mailbox at 8885 S. Hwy A1A or e-mail it to me at [email protected]. Thanks, Mark Shantzis, President, BIPPA
FIRE PROTECTION PETITION
STATION #65
(the South Beaches of Brevard County)
We SUPPORT the Barrier Island Preservation and Protection Association's *(BIPPA) request for an additional water tanker placed at Station #65.
We believe that there is inadequate water supply to put out a medium or larger fire at our homes (which BIPPA has confirmed by county official's statements).
We believe this impairs the health, safety, welfare and insurability of the heavily wooded barrier island residents, and further, that a single out-of -control fire could spread to multiple households harming residents and fire fighters.
We believe that County officials have been keenly aware of this problem since the early 1990's, when a “well” plan to provide adequate water and to mitigate the County's liability was proposed but not implemented.
